We Are

‘we are’ is an exploration of content before context, through the medium of typological portraiture. Its aim is to disrupt assumptions held by the viewer. Portraits are supported by interviews of those pictured within a publication. These interviews are an honest, frank and at times lighthearted look at their lives identifying as a queer people in Auckland, New Zealand. This 45 page limited edition publication was designed, photographed and produced by myself. Overall, ‘we are’ is exhibited as an installation piece, designed and constructed around three light-boxes to display three hero images.
